Finance and Admin Assistant

Job Type: Full time | Company: Chemonics International | Location: Benghazi, Libya | Date posted: 13-05-2014

The Libya Transition Initiative (LTI) program is seeking a Finance and Admin Assistant based in Benghazi.

 

LTI project is funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), through a contract with Chemonics International.  The project supports the transition from the Qadhafi regime to a free and democratic Libya by supporting civil society, strengthening local and independent media outlets, and augmenting interim government authorities. The Finance and Admin Assistant is a member of the field office finance team.

·         Work with the Finance Coordinator to ensure that internal policies are followed as it relates to procurement process.

·         Ensure completeness of supportive documentation for payments prior to Finance Coordinator’s and/or Finance and Administration Manager’s review and the Deputy Chief of Party’s approval

·         Ensure all financial documentation is both filed in hard copy and scanned and saved in project digital files

·         Ensure that digital files are sent to Tripoli and HO within a month from the end of the previous month.

·         Maintain confidentiality of financial records

·         Assist Finance Coordinator with entering Benghazi financial transactions (eg. petty cash, subcontract payments, etc) into project accounting system (ABACUS)

·         Assist the Finance Coordinator in the monthly closing.

·         Other tasks as assigned by management

 

QUALIFICATIONS           

  • Advanced studies in relevant field, such as accounting, commerce or business administration, or equivalent experience
  • Experience working with NGOs in a financial capacity desired but not required
  • Fresh graduates are encouraged to apply
  • Working knowledge of accounting systems and software applications, to include: Quickbooks, MS Word, MS Excel and other basic computer applications
  • Professional level English and Arabic language skills
  • Libyan Citizen
