Security Guard

Introduction

 

DRC has been operational in Libya and Tunisia since 2011 focusing on protection of the displaced and conflict affected population. These include IDPs mainly on the north western coast line west of Tripoli, refugees in Tunisia taking shelter in the Shousha camp, the population in and around Sirte affected by unexploded ordnance (UXOs) and to an increasing extent on the legal and illegal migrants and stateless populations in Libya. DRC/DDG has its head office in Tripoli and field offices in Zarzis (Tunisia) and in Sirte and is opening an office in Sabha. Sabha is located 800 km south of Tripoli and is a central transit point for migrants and is home to large numbers of minority groups and stateless populations.

 

we are looking to recruit 2 Security Guards

duties and responsibilities:

1.          The security service shall include control of entries and exits, visual search and check/verification of the incoming people other than the staff working at the building and securing peace of the inhabitants at the building and overall security of the building with its entire premises.  Description of the premises and responsibilities of the security guards is as follows:

 

·          Main Entrance Gate: This is the entrance where people enter and exit and visitors are received and identities checked.

·          Watch and Control Duty: This is the security service including watch at the place of assignment and control duty to monitor activities in front of the compound.  

·          Reception Duty: Assisting visitors upon their arrival at the building in an effective, kind and professional manner and registering their names and directing them to the relevant staff member.

 

2.      Security guards shall perform their duties at the ground floor, at the parking areas and at other places at the sides of the building as shall be notified by the Safety & Security Advisor (SSA) and the Safety Officer (SO).

 

3.      Any and all visitors coming to the building and wishing to pay a visit shall, irrespective of their identity, be visually searched thoroughly without letting him/her notice it, as if he/she were a suspect.

 

4.     Security guards shall immediately get acquainted with the DRC/DDG staff and its implementing partners working at the compound, and other people shall be regarded as customers and visitors.

 

5.     Security guards shall be provided with a list of names of the staff and their car plate numbers so that they can control the entries to the compound.

 

6.     Security guards shall not be overly familiar and act in an informal way with the staff, customers and visitors for any reason whatsoever.

 

7.     Entries and exits after normal working hours by the staff shall be recorded in the register by time, and the SO or SSA of the compound shall be notified on the same day or the next morning.

 

8.     For the performance of the security services herein, the guards will be given one set of keys to the offices/main entrance gates of the building.  In such case, the DRC/DDG shall issue a written receipt to the guards indicating that the key have been handed over. The keys are to be stored and locked away in a secured and sealed container, and only to be used in case of an emergency such as fire.

 

9.     Security guards shall in no case allow entry into the compound of such persons as salesmen, beggars, etc.

 

10.  In case of emergency (fire, theft, sabotage, attack, bombing alert, flood, etc.), security guards shall first attend the case, ensure maintenance of proof and evidence of crime, and shall immediately notify the safety staff and if applicable Fire Department and Police Department.

 

11.  The guards shall always establish coordination with, and receive work-related instructions, if any, from the SO of the compound and shall accommodate the instructions so given and shall inform safety staff of the compound of any issues that may go beyond their power.

 

12.  Security guards shall not allow any unauthorised parking directly in front of the compound main gate.

 

13.  Security guards should support safety staff with a variety of other functions pertaining to the implementation of Security Plan and Security directives of DRC/DDG.

 

14.  Security guards shall assure that all the security and fire-alarm equipment works properly and in case of any detection of malfunctioning should inform safety staff.
