Sales Representative

Responsibilities & Main Duties

Information Technology (IT) Sales Representatives are part of the sales teams.

- They are responsible to generate sales to the customers.

- They are responsible for their own performance and for making sure that they reaches the targets set.

- They may receive the targets from the sales manager or sales director.

  • liaising with other line managers;
  • reporting back to senior management;
  • liaising with and selling to customers;
  • troubleshooting;
  • maintaining detailed knowledge of the company's products;
  • keeping abreast with what competitors are doing.
  • identification of new business opportunities
  • assist in development of marketing strategies.
  • maintaining loyalty from existing customers through regular review visits;
  • calling on potential customers to demonstrate products and attempt to win new markets;
  • ensuring that they fully understand customers' businesses and requirements;
  • acting as an information channel between a company and its products and existing/potential markets;
  • contacting clients by direct visit to negotiate terms of an agreement and using persuasion skills to conclude the sale;
  • gathering market and customer information;
  • staffing trade exhibitions and demonstrations;
  • negotiating variations in price, delivery and specifications;
  • trouble-shooting in matters of documentation, delivery, service and parts;
  • visiting retail and wholesale outlets;
  • checking quantities of goods on display and in stock;
  • determining the appropriate order and negotiating with the manager;
  • recording sales and order information and sending copies to sales office;
  • reviewing own sales performance;
  • making accurate, rapid cost calculations;
  • feeding back to employers information gathered on future buying trends.
  • Keeping daily written records on all sales activities
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual forecasts as required by Sales Manager or Sales Director and by suppliers assigned to him.
  • Must be able to travel

Required Knowledge & Qualifications

  • Must have a college degree in Business Administration or at least 2 years experience as a sales representative or related field.
  • Must have excellent communication skills both written and verba
  • Must be able to read, write and speak English
  • Must be able to use a computer and the applications programs including Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook.
  • Must be able to give good presentations in front of large audiences.

Must have experience in one of the following fields:

  • Printing
  • Copying
  • Document Management

- Ability to train customers is highly desirable

- The ability and desire to sell is essential

- Confidence, tenacity, team work and a good telephone manner are needed.

The following skills are also important:

  • Determination;
  • The ability to flourish in a competitive environment and enjoy the competition for business with commercial rivals;
  • The resilience to cope with setbacks and to survive difficult circumstances;
  • The ability to cope with routine, especially during long periods without support staff when carrying out mundane tasks yourself.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license
