The Protection Monitoring Officer will implement and monitor Cesvi protection program, including protection monitoring and advocacy, community-based protection assistance to persons with specific needs in Tripoli.
The Protection Monitoring Officer provides support in protection monitoring programming, primarily through information gathering and providing information to beneficiaries and program staff related to the rights of Persons of Concern. The day-to-day functions of this position include monitoring the situation against protection standards ,reviewing existing data collection tools, interviewing persons of concern, and supporting the mainstreaming of protection monitoring activities and services into Cesvi operating procedures.
The protection officer is expected to gather quality information regarding populations of concern in a timely manner, with a focus on the needs of the most vulnerable groups or individuals in host communities and Community Development Center (CDC).
S/he will report directly to the National Program Coordinator in Libya and to the expatriate Protection Officer and the expatriate Project Manager in Tunis.
Duty Station: Tripoli
Duties and responsibilities:
•Contribute to on implementing UNHCR funded project by conducting monitoring activities and provision of integrated services in concerned with the targeted beneficiaries;
Monitor, identify and collect data related with vulnerable groups of Person of Concern in CESVI’s areas of operation;
• Enter collected information into databases.
• Contribute to the overall protection weekly / monthly report underlining protection issues and related trends and figures in Coordination with the National Program Coordinator and the expatriate Staff;
• Maintain and update database protection monitoring;
• Coordinate with all relevant local and international protection stakeholders;
• Any other duties relating to nature of the job as may be requested by the Project Manager.
• In partnership with IMC and partner NGO staff, encourage good practice and support of protection principles to protect vulnerable persons.
• Keep abreast of developments and understand the latest information on data protection, confidentiality and other legal issues that impact on the protection of vulnerable groups or individuals.
• Stay abreast of political, social, economic and cultural developments that have an impact on the protection environment for persons of concern.
To be successful in this role, ideally you should have
· Bachelor in Social work, political science, law or related field;
· Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills, creativity and flexibility in working overtime when needed;
· Excellent reporting skills;
· Previous experience in international organization and humanitarian settings Fluency in Arabic and English required.
· Experience in working with vulnerable populations including refugees, migrants, other persons of concern desirable.
· Full time commitment (8 hours availability) 5 days a week.
· Willing to travel in the country and abroad (Tunisia)
