PROGRAM BACKGROUND:

Under the award specific to this position, International Medical Corps provides medical care, non-food item (NFI) distributions, and outreach services to highly vulnerable populations in Libya, including refugees and asylum seekers through a Community Development Center (CDC).

 

JOB SUMMARY

The translator is responsible to facilitate communications between CDC staff and beneficiaries. S/He will be able to speak fluent Arabic as well as one of the following languages: Eritrean, Somali, and Amharic. The translator will work from the CDC and conduct home visits to beneficiaries on a regular basis.

 

S/He will also:

·          Perform other duties as assigned. The duties and responsibilities listed are representative of the nature and level of work assigned and are not necessarily all inclusive;

·         Excellent communication skills, both oral and written;

·         Excellent self-motivation skills;

·         The ability to deal with a broad spectrum of people;

·         Ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisions independently;

·         Excellent ability to handle multiple tasks and many administrative details in a fast paced and constantly changing environment;

·         Creativity and the ability to work with limited resources; and Excellent decision making skills; and

 

·         Ability to speak English and/or French is a plus.
