Risk Education Project Agent

 

Job context

 

Handicap International has been working in Libya since 2011, implementing projects aimed at addressing the humanitarian impact of Explosive Remnants of War (ERW) and Small Arms and Light Weapons (SALW) through the delivery of Risk Education activities and clearance and destruction of explosive threats. To achieve its aims, HI works alongside communities, local authorities and associations to empower them in finding lasting solutions to the challenges faced in a post-conflict environment. 

 

In 2015, following the outbreak of renewed conflict in Libya, a Mine Risk Education Project, and targeting Explosive Remnants of War (ERW) affected communities in Libya is to be delivered in the western area. a

Mission

 

Working under the overall responsibility of the Head of Mission, and directly under the supervision of the Deputy Project Manager, the Mine Risk Education Project Agent will provide key support the Deputy Project Manager in the roll-out and implementation of project activities. He/she will work with closely with partners, counterparts and stakeholders in ensuring project outputs are of the highest quality and that expected results are achieved in a timely and efficient manner.

Main Responsibilities

 

 

Project/Partnerships

 

  • Participate in team training and staff meetings in Tunisia as required throughout the project cycle.
  • Contribute to the compilation and formalization of all the tools and methods developed in the framework of the implementation of the project.

·         Ensure proper application of the project methodologies and the proper use of the developed awareness and media tools.

·         Participate in the different phases of the selection of target groups, Community Focal Points and key agents of change targeted by the project (definition of criteria, selection).

·         Conduct direct outreach sessions and deliver training to partners, teachers and target groups..

  • Train community focal points, teachers and key agents of change in methods, approaches, tools and technical aspects relating to the implementation of the activities.
  • Filling the adequate forms and respect the reporting mechanisms. 

·         Plan workshops and events, coordination of workshop materials and contribute to event reports.

·         Support the Team leader in the performance review of the partner’s and counterparts activities (planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation and adjustment / timetable of activities).

·         Support the Information Management Officer and data operator to ensure accurate and timely data collection, compilation and analysis.

·         Participate in the development of weekly and monthly activity planning and reporting.

·         Check the suitability and status of project equipment before and after each use.

·         Maintain a positive image of Handicap international at all times and in all circumstances.

Knowledge/Experience required

Essential

  

1         Similar work experience in an NGO or community group

 

2         Experience in community work and participatory approaches, and good knowledge of advocacy/ community mobilization methods and tools

 

3         Experience in developing communications and awareness raising materials

 

4         Experience of developing training content and direct delivery of training

 

5         Received training on Risk education activities

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Skills required

Essential

1        Good spoken and written English

 

2         Ability to develop productive working relationships with colleagues, partners, local authorities and other stakeholders

 

3         Capacity to deliver training using a variety of methodologies

 

4        Ability to anticipate risks and opportunities

 

5         Good organisational skills and ability to prioritise workload

 

6         Good computer skills

 

7         Ability to produce reports as required

 

8        Excellent communication skills and ability to convey key messages and values of the organisation

 

 

Additional Information:

Location: Tripoli

Weekly hours: 40

Schedule: Sunday   to Thursday from 08.30 to 16.30 including one hour lunch break

 

 

 

The employee certifies his/her agreement to the terms and conditions of this job description.  It is a full part of his/her contract signed with Handicap International.

 

 PROFILE REQUIRED:

 

Libya national

Location: Tripoli

Weekly hours: 40

Type of contract: Fixed term

Schedule: Sunday to Thursday from 08.30 to 16.30 including one hour lunch break (13.00 to 14.00)

 

THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE

 

You will have previous experience with NGO’s. You will be diplomatic and possess strong communication and interpersonal skills. You will be sensitive to the needs of vulnerable groups. You will be fluent in English (written and spoken) and Arabic.

 

Should possess initiative, good communication skills, strong analytical skills and the ability to support others, evaluate and negotiate appropriate options and ability to work under pressure. 

 

A PLUS: previous experience with related position is well required
