MSF is based in Libya since 2015 and is carrying out activities in mental health, paediatrics and women health in Benghazi, and with the migrants in Misrata
Assisting in the nursing activities, according to nurses and doctors prescription, universal hygiene standards and MSF protocols, standards and procedures in order to ensure the delivery of quality medical care for patients
Assisting the nurse / doctor in organizing and providing care and treatments to patients, respecting at all times, the rules of hygiene, safety, comfort, dignity, medical secret and patient confidentiality. Giving response to nurse’s/ doctor’s requirements in case of an emergency
Participating in the surveillance and monitoring of the patient and reporting to the nurse/ doctor any relevant information
Taking and recording patients body weight, height, and vital signs, and reporting to the nurse/ doctor any alarm signs upon their arrival at the facility
Participating in the monitoring of nursing activities- correctly fill in patient files, etc. (and ensuring a relevant transfer of information between duty teams if relevant).
Reporting any problem arising in the care unit, especially the loss, robbery or damage of equipment or medicines
Ensuring cleanliness of his/her working environment (including facilities, material, linen, equipment, and carrying out the sorting and disposal of waste)
Working together with doctors, nurses, registrars and cleaners
Participating actively in the project activities as meetings and/or trainings and in the basic health education sessions
Participating in any other related activities as requested by the line manager or Project Coordinator
MSF Section/Context Specific Accountabilities:
Assisting doctor(s) with patient care in the Detention Centers and OPD (Outpatient Department) whenever necessary or advised by the medical referent in promoting quality patient care, Prioritizing patients in accordance with MSF protocols, and possibly performing drug dispensing duties as directed by the doctors
Treating patient with respect providing good quality care with respects to MSF protocols and guidelines
Preparing and participating in patient health education sessions
Assisting in referrals to the specified structures and escorting the patients if necessary
Participating in data collection: keeping the registers up to date, filling in with relevant information in patients’ cards,
To report immediately to the line manager or Project Medical Referent in case of accidental exposure to blood.
Education : Nurse diploma or other medical/paramedical qualification desirable.
Experience: None required.
Languages: Fluency in English and Arabic is Mandatory .
